Stand-Up Comedy
Batting Cage Comedy (NoMa Comedy Show)
Where Comedians Take Big Swings
Every Thursday at 8pm in the basement of DC’s most beloved Irish bar, the city’s most comedy-savvy audience members merge with a bunch of tourists who don’t know what they’re getting into to create a somehow “always fun” crowd the cities’ most engaging comics can’t wait to entertain.
This weekly fun-filled, “anything goes,” joyful celebration of everything stand-up can be is a carefully curated showcase featuring not only the city’s funniest comics, but its most memorable.
Whether it’s a drop-in from one of the best in the biz, a fan-favorite running an extended set, or crowdwork that feels a whole lot like friendship, you never know what’s going to happen when John Fogerty’s “Centerfield” plays and the host takes the stage to start Batting Cage Comedy at Kelly’s Irish Times.
Kevin Seefried: Live at Kelly’s Irish Times
Washington, DC - In his debut special, the reluctantly liberal Seefried plays explores the relationship between identity and ideology, poking holes at the ways in which the two often find themselves at odds. Whether he’s shining a light on his own hypocrisies, those of the people closest to him, or the ones that define Washington, DC, Seefried continuously reminds the audience that what we THINK we believe and what we DO believe aren’t always the same.
Seefried’s loose, high-energy performance runs the gamut from vulnerable to defensive to outright silly. At it’s core “Kevin Seefried: Live at Kelly’s Irish Times” is one man’s attempt to reckon with what it means to be a person.
Mad About Me
Winner - 2022 Elgin Fringe Festival Producers’ Award
Mad About Me is a solo stand-up show that finds the funny in frustration, tapping into topics like sibling rivalry, the faults with the suicide hotline, and how some people just won’t get out of your way when you’re trying to get somewhere! Mixing trivial complaints with genuine vulnerability, Mad About Me is a show that’s both fun-filled and cathartic for all.
Here’s What People Are Saying
"DC comedian Kevin Seefried hit the stage with a lot of energy for his Thursday night performance for the 2022 Elgin Fringe Festival. He created an open and welcoming space with the small crowd at Side Street Studio Arts’ Backspace.
Seefried kept the crowd engaged during his stand-up routine by covering various topics, from overbearing parents to life in DC to mental health. Seefried's fast-paced, chaotic delivery of his relatable life experiences produced non-stop laughs throughout the crowd. Whether he was talking about familiar topics like Netflix cheating on your partner or the unique experience of having the same name as a US terrorist, Seefried makes it feel like you are speaking with that one friend who drinks a little too much coffee. His set was a hilarious way to kick off Fringe Fest weekend."
